AGEING COMMITTEE IN LOGAN, CENTRAL QLD

We are a division of the Logan Area Committee on the Ageing (L.A.C.O.T.A). This committee generally aims to promote and assist the mental, physical and spiritual well-being of all seniors in Logan and surrounding areas. We do this by providing a number of services to the aged population including the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS), which is where Logan CVS comes in.

The world is an ever-changing place. Advances in technology and medicine mean people are living longer. Unfortunately for some, they do not have the support network of their family and friends and can find themselves feeling alone residing in an aged care home. It is the aim of CVS that volunteers step in to alleviate this social isolation.

Logan and its surrounding areas have seen a surge in the number of elderly citizens. This has led to a number of new aged care homes opening up to accommodate this growing demographic. A lot of these new aged care residents have little interaction with the outside world and are feeling increasingly lonely. As the number of aged homes grows, so too does the need for community visitors. Add to this the number of existing aged care residents who are receiving little to no visits; it becomes more apparent how desperately community volunteers are needed. If you have ever thought about volunteering, now is the time.
