Welcome to Logan Area Committee on the Ageing (L.A.C.O.T.A). Based in Logan, our community organisation is dedicated to making a difference. Please learn more about us below and join us in supporting local seniors!
Logan Area Committee on the Ageing Inc. was started by a group of like-minded people in 1991 as the Senior Citizens Centre.
In 1992, the Logan Committee on the Ageing was formed. At that time, the centre offered skill sharing and community service, and by 1993, there were 40 members and five life members.
In 1993, the activities had grown to include library books available for borrowing free of charge. This continues to this day, in addition to indoor bowls, exercise groups, Autumn Years Social Club social trips and the Jacaranda Friendship Club. Plus, we have craft and Tai Chi classes along with an annual picnic and Christmas party in December. The hall is rented out when not in use and helps to raise revenue for running costs and maintenance. Information pamphlets are readily available.
A Justice of the Peace is on the premises and a bus is available for door to door service. The grounds of the senior citizens centre has a commemorative rose garden to honour past members.
Currently, the centre has indoor bowls every Monday and garden club every Tuesday. Learner crafts take place each Thursday, Zoomba for all ages happens on Friday and there is a Zoomba session for younger ladies on Wednesday evenings.
